The Aurélian Story

More than half a century of Italian slow luxury, cliffside passion, and multi-generational hospitality on the Amalfi Coast.

Heritage & Legacy

Rooted in Positano Cliffside Stone

When Donato Moretti first stood atop these sheer limestone cliffs in the spring of 1967, he envisioned a sanctuary where architecture bowed reverently to the sea. The sheer drop, the scent of wild rosemary in the salt air, and the golden hour light cast over Positano formed the blueprint of what would become The Aurélian.

Over five decades, through thoughtful evolutions, that founding ethos has never wavered. Every stone has been chiseled by hand by local craftsmen, every lemon terrace nurtured organically, and every guest welcomed not as a transaction, but as family.

Architectural Craftsmanship

Understated Slow Luxury & Artisanal Provenance

Rather than imposing glass-and-steel modernity upon an ancient coastline, The Aurélian celebrates the enduring texture of Mediterranean materials: chiseled Tuscan travertine, reclaimed chestnut beams, hand-painted Vietri sul Mare majolica ceramics, and pure organic flax linens.

Preserved Vaults: Original 18th-century barrel brick ceilings providing natural thermal insulation and acoustic serenity.
Bespoke Vietri Tiles: Every bathroom and floor features individual ceramic motifs hand-painted in nearby Vietri ateliers.
Frette 1,000-Thread Linens: Hand-embroidered custom bedding woven from the finest long-staple Italian cotton.
